Leaps and bounds!

In honor of Leap Year, I thought I would share a video of Cooper with all his new LEAPS (I know it's a stretch at being funny, lol) in progress! He's doing so awesome and we work on his working pretty much all day long. I feel like a bootcamp instructor but I try to make it fun :)

The kitchen wars...

Oh, my hubby and I have gone back and forth about getting Cooper a play kitchen for the house. Let me explain something about Cooper...the kid loves a play kitchen! It doesn't matter where we are, the place is a wonderland to him as long as there is a play kitchen. I have been telling my hubby for months that we need to get Cooper one for the house so that he has a toy that he has to stand to play with so it would be good for physical therapy (wink, wink...although, it is but maybe I laid it on pretty thick). Well, hubby came with us to therapy the other day and saw the magic that comes over Cooper when he can play with a kitchen...

So, I found him one at the consignment sale the other night! I had to text my hubby a pic before I bought it so that he could approve of the kitchen's manliness, lol...I was going to get coffee at my favorite local coffee house after the consignment sale but I was so excited for Cooper to play with his kitchen that I went straight home!

Just add another brick to the load...

that I carry on my back every.single.day...

My hubby came with us to physical and speech therapy today which was nice because it's been a while since he's been able to attend. Our therapies are in the morning so it's difficult for him to get the time off from work. Anyways, he had some questions for Coop's speech therapists that I've been afraid to ask...

One was the severity of Cooper's Apraxia and I guess I wasn't prepared for the answer, which was moderate to severe. The only reason that he's not considered severe is that he is able to eat. She said there is a possibility that he won't be able to talk normally and will require assistance from a device which these days would be an Ipad.

The other question was does Cooper have a learning disability and she thinks that he does. Learning normally goes in an upward slope (especially since he's in speech twice a week!) and Coop's learning curve is more like hills and valleys. She doesn't know if the learning disability is more a language barrier or a cognitive delay problem since he's so young.

It's just frustrating. The poor kid can just never get ahead.

So, the next time the car in front of you sits at a light after it's turned green...maybe, not honk because it could be a parent that can't take their mind off how much they love their child and how worried they are about their future...

Coop taking about 4 steps!

I woke up this morning and dreaded that it was Thursday which is horrible. Physical therapy has become really tough these days which frustrates him (which leads to screaming and tears) but today was a huge day! It's been a long process but Cooper is finally taking a few independent steps! He took independent steps several times today and at one time even did 6 all by himself!

I'm the proudest mommy on the entire planet today!

Other Valentine goodies...

I love pinterest. I don't know how I survived before discovering it because I am not naturally crafty or creative. I found the inspiration for Cooper's valentines to give to his friends in January, lol...

Although, I couldn't just find shovels for his "I dig you" valentines this time of year but I could find a pail and shovel. They're obnoxiously cute!

Crystal, I tried to get a better pic of Cooper's shirt for you :) It says "My heart beats for mom" which I bought at Crazy 8's which is the sister store (and less expensive) of Gymboree. I do get tons of compliments on his clothes and I have to tell all of you that I get 90% of his wardrobe from consignment sales! He has tons of clothes because they're all dirt cheap :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

We are having a very low key Valentine's Day at our house! One of Cooper's gifts today was a Romeo and Juliet counting book which he loves already! He's such a book worm which makes me happy :) (except when he woke me up at 3 am this morning for the sole purpose of reading Good night Gorilla over and over again!)

The exciting thing about this counting book is that there is also a Pride and Prejudice one, too! A Jane Eyre and an Alice and Wonderland counting book are set to come out this fall! Excited!

He's also getting an annual membership to the Georgia Aquarium but I'm giving him that gift when daddy comes home! :)
